This program is designed specifically for youth athletes (9-12 years old) and emphasizes developing the ABC’s of fundamental movement skills in 60 minute sessions. Most expert sources will say that a child who develops a better base of fundamental movement skills will develop sport specific skills at a faster rate and will peak at a higher level of expertise. Athletes will participate in a variety of exercises and drills that will improve their:
Locomotive skills: Running, Jumping, Dodging, Skipping, Hopping, Bounding, Sprinting. Stability Skills (ABC’s of Athleticism): Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed, Change of Direction. Manipulative / Object Control Skills: Throw, Kick, Strike, Catch, Dribble Awareness, Space Awareness, Kinesthetic Awareness, and Body Awareness.
Athletes who start training at Athletic Republic Covington at the age of 9 years old and continue to train all they way up to High School will be so much more advanced in their athletic ability along with their "Training IQ", compared to an athelte who starts training at 14 years of age.
